Nft File Size Limit On Different Marketplaces

As more people join the NFT industry, collectors are increasingly demanding higher standards for the digital images and videos they purchase.

However, there are different limits on file sizes on different marketplaces.

Here is a breakdown of the file size limits on the various NFT marketplaces.

Nft File Size Limit On Different Marketplaces

NFT File Size Limit On OpenSea

OpenSea is an NFT marketplace that has been around since 2017. After spending time on numerous NFT Discord servers, the two founders decided to create a marketplace where collectors could trade in NFT assets safely.

Thus, the first NFT marketplace was created. It has since grown to be the biggest in the world.

On OpenSea, users can upload files of up to 100MB. However, the platform recommends that users keep files below 50MB to ensure they load faster.

On OpenSea, users can upload the following file formats: GIF, PNG, JPG, MP3, MP4, WAV, WebM, OGG, GLB, GLTF, and SVT.

NFT File Size Limit On SuperRare

SuperRare is another popular NFT marketplace that views itself as an online art gallery. The platform is highly exclusive on who can upload files to their database.

Only a few new files are uploaded to the platform every month.

On SuperRare there is a governance token called $RARE that gives users a vote on future changes to the platform.

SuperRare has a maximum file limit of 50MB. However, the thumbnail shown to potential buyers will be 10MB.

NFT File Size Limit On Rarible

Rarible is an NFT marketplace that launched in 2020 as a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO).

It allows users to earn governance tokens called $RARI when they buy and sell via the platform. The $RARI tokens give users a vote on future changes to the platforms.

Rarible has a maximum file limit of just 10MB.

The platform supports the following file formats: MP3, MP4, WebP, PNG, and JPEG.

NFT File Size Limit On Mintable

Mintable is most famous for its gasless minting capabilities. Gas fees have been a challenge for the NFT industry and it is nice to see a platform that is taking on the challenge.

However, there are limitations on what can be minted via this innovative model.

On Mintable, artists can choose normal minting or printable minting, which allows them to put up a collection and remove unsold art pieces at a later date.

The maximum file size limit on this platform is 3GB. Accepted file formats are MP4 and GLB 3D files.

NFT File Size Limit On Foundation

Foundation is an online NFT marketplace that launched in 2020. It operates in an auction format with each auction running for 24 hours once a reserve price is met.

The platform has a maximum size limit of 50MB. Each image has to be 3000px or less.

For videos, they have to be in 4K or 1080p.

NFT File Size Limit On KnownOrigin

KnownOrigin is an NFT marketplace with strict limits on which artists can put up their artwork on the platform.

It can take months for the platform to approve artists. Artists have to pay a 15% commission on the initial sale.

However, they will earn royalties of up to 10% for all resales of the work.

There is a maximum file limit of 75MB for the main asset and 25MB for the cover images.

It accepts the following file formats: GIF, PNG, JPG, MP4, SVG, WebM, WebP, and GLB.

NFT File Size Limit On Mintbase

Unlike the above platforms, which run on the Ethereum blockchain, Mintbase uses a PoS blockchain called NEAR. It allows lower gas fees.

Best of all, the files can be moved to the Ethereum blockchain via bridging.

The maximum files limit on the platform is 16MB.

It allows the following file formats: GIF, JPG, and PNG. For video files, it allows MP3, MP4, and OGG.
